Description

Pokémon Crystal Awakening is a GBC ROM Hack by FrenchOrange based on Pokemon Crystal. It was released on November 29, 2025.

Description: Pokemon Crystal Awakening is a tileset overhaul project built on the Pokémon Crystal disassembly. The goal is to redesign every area to resemble a Game Boy Color Zelda title, primarily inspired by Link’s Awakening with visual cues from the Oracle games.

Features:

• While the story progression remains unchanged, here are the new elements you can expect in this hack:
• Overhauled overworld and interior graphics, alongside some UI elements.
• Tweaked trainer teams, namely harder rosters for important trainers, such as Gym Leaders.
• An expanded Kanto, with restored dungeons, more trainers, and more items.
• More sensible Pokémon distribution (as seen here ), and more generous HM compatibility.
• Every Pokémon available on one save file, and all room decorations can be bought or are gifted to you.
• Fixed off-model Pokémon sprites. Palettes were also improved for a good amount of Pokémon.
• Some QOL features, like “Running Shoes” (works by holding down B), and an automatic Repel reuse message.

Fixed bugs and glitches.

The Celebi event, now restored! To get it, simply head to Goldenrod’s Pokémon Center after beating the League.

Note: This ROM hack is not compatible with base GSC.
