Pokémon ROM Hacks — Manual Acquisition List

Worthwhile hacks that could not be auto-patched because their patches are gated behind anti-bot hosts (hackdex.app), Discord servers, or Google Drive/MEGA links that aren't directly fetchable. The auto-patched set (25 hacks) is already in roms/<platform>/Hacks/ — see the bottom of this file.

Scope: pre-3DS handhelds (gb/gbc/gba/nds) + pre-Wii consoles, per request.

How to hand one off to me

Once you grab a patch (.bps / .ips / .ups / .xdelta), drop it anywhere on valhalla (e.g. /storage1/igir/romhacks/incoming/) and tell me. Applying it is seconds:

# BPS/UPS self-verify the base ROM; xdelta v1 verifies source MD5.
python3 /storage1/igir/romhacks/tools/apply.py <patch> "<base rom>" <out.ext>
# xdelta v1 patches (magic %XDZ):  docker run ... node:lts  -> apt install xdelta

Or I add a line to scripts/romhack-fetch.py's manifest and run --place.

A patched ROM is the same end result either way — if you'd rather just download a pre-patched ROM, that works too; I'll validate + rename it to match.

Wanted — handhelds

Base-ROM ownership is noted; ✅ = you already own the base on valhalla.

Update (2026-06-06): the big pokemon/ drop-folder import added 53 more hacks (incl. Emerald Rogue EX, Emerald Seaglass, Sors, Saiph 1 & 2, Flora Sky, Sovereign of the Skies, Crystal Kaizo, Lazarus) plus Following Renegade Platinum in place of Following Platinum. The list below is what's still not acquired.

Needs identification (held, not placed)

• Beta 15 + Expansion Fix Patch C.ups — from your drop folder; applies cleanly to FireRed (it's a FireRed/expansion hack) but the filename doesn't identify the hack. Tell me what it is and I'll place it as Pokemon - <name> (Hack).gba. Patch archived at patches/_imported/.

Optional add-on patches (archived, not applied)

Inside the Sors / Saiph 2 downloads were optional extra IPS patches (3DS VC mode, lag-fix, vigilante mode, time-based events) meant to be layered on top of the main ROM. The main ROMs are placed; these extras are kept in patches/_imported/ if you ever want them applied.

Versions worth refreshing later

These are already placed, but newer/better builds live behind gated hosts:

• Radical Red — now at v4.10 (from your drop); latest dev builds are on the official Discord.
• Unbound — already in your library (pre-existing); update via hackdex.

Deliberately excluded

• Clover — polished but full of offensive/meme content (your "no shitpost" rule).

Console (pre-Wii)

No well-regarded finished N64/GameCube Pokémon ROM hacks exist beyond the GameCube Colosseum/XD enhancement hacks you already have (Grand Colosseum, XD – XG). Nothing to acquire here.
